DJI might have a new drone under wraps. The Chinese drone maker hasn’t unveiled it yet, but the leaked DJI Spark might be a tiny selfie-drone smaller than the Mavic. The leaked drone appeared on some DJI-related forums earlier but the page has since been removed.
Luckily, TechCrunch managed to nab quite a few photos of the drone. You can view the whole gallery here. From the leaks, it’s clear the Spark is a tiny quadcopter. It’s considerably smaller than the Mavic but packs a 2-axis gimbal (perfect for selfies). In addition to leaked photos, new video shows infrared sensors at the front of the drone. Perhaps Spark will ship with some basic obstacle avoidance.
DJI hasn’t made comment on the leaked drone, but it recently trademarked the name, writes The Verge. No photos of the drone’s controller have surfaced, but it’s likely the small drone will be marketed for selfies. In that case, a smartphone companion app could be used for flight controls.
